Foster

Foster homes are a critical part of our rescue. Since we do not have our own facility, we rely on our wonderful foster families to house our dogs while we search for their forever family.

We work with our foster families to get to know each dog individually to be sure that we know what type of home will be their perfect match. We take great care with every adoption to ensure that the home chosen is the right match, and our foster families are involved every step of the way.

When you become an approved foster home, you will have the support of the entire Viva! family behind you. We provide for every need of our dogs while in our care; veterinary care, food, supplies, toys, heartworm/flea and tick preventive medicine, training support, plus any extras that may be needed.

Maya
Maya was one of the very first Viva! Dogs. She was actually originally fostered by our Director through the Valencia County Shelter. She was adopted, but the home didn't work out. When she was returned, she came back to our director who ended up adopting her.
Puppies!
One of our foster moms saw a hugely pregnant, very skinny dog at the Valencia County shelter and took her home to foster. She had a total of twelve puppies. All of the babies were adopted, and some even went on to be service dogs!
Indiana Bones
Indiana Bones came to us the fall of 2013 from the Socorro shelter. He was a bit older, but that didn't stop him from finding the perfect forever home to love him to pieces!
Turbo
In December of 2013, we saw a dog on the side of the road dragging wire behind him - wire that was fashioned as a collar around his neck. We pulled over and he came right up to us, so we took him home, named him Turbo, and found him the perfect home.
